Juvenile Delinquency
The Brevard County Clerk of Courts follows the guidelines set forth in §985.045 of the Florida Statutes regarding juvenile delinquency cases and their associated court records. All records processed through the delinquency department are confidential and can only be seen by the parent, legal guardian, and/or child with proper picture identification. None of our cases are open to the public and/or press. Court appointed and private attorneys also have access to the court files only if they have filed their notice of appearance in the particular case.
The Clerk’s Office does not give information over the telephone as juvenile records processed in this office are confidential and access requires proper identification as described in the above paragraph. Anyone seeking specific information regarding a juvenile case must first come into the office with proper picture identification.
Delinquency hearings are recorded by the digital court reporters. Transcripts of the recordings can be requested through the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court; however, due to the confidentiality of these proceedings, the requesting party must obtain a court order to receive a copy of the recording. More information is available on Court Administration’s website: https://flcourts18.org/digital-court-reporting/.
